Woman pleads no contest to stealing worker's comp benefits

A Providence woman accused of stealing benefits from the state is ordered to pay restitution.

Marta Rangel pleaded no contest in Superior Court Tuesday to one count of obtaining money under false pretenses.

Rangel, 76, was accused of collecting more than $10,000 in worker's compensation insurance while employed at a Cranston business in 2010 and 2011.

Rangel was ordered to pay back $10,019.05, and she was sentenced to 10 years of probation.
