Foster Town Council fires director of public works

Posted: Updated:

Robert Hohler, director of public works was fired Thursday night in a unanimous vote of the Foster Town Council.

Neither the town council president nor any of the council members would reveal the reason for the termination, effective immediately.

At this time the only thing that we can report on the record is that several citizens made audible comments about the DPW director Thursday night when the topic of ‘Drug testing for temporary plow drivers' was discussed at the meeting.

Hours later, Hohler was out of a job.

"We have just concluded an executive session in which one thing was addressed and voted on, there was a motion made to terminate employment of the Public Works Director Robert Hohler immediately, effective today, 12/12/2013. That motion passed unanimously," said Foster Town Council President John Lewis.

Acting DPW Foreman Harold Shippee, Jr. told NBC 10, "I can't make any comment. I refer to the solicitor or the town council. I can't make any comment."

NBC 10 went to the home of Robert Hohler Thursday night in an attempt to try to get a comment on the situation, but no one came to the door.
