DARTMOUTH, Mass. -

Investigators are trying to identify a woman they found on the golf course at New Bedford Country Club in Dartmouth.

Police said she was found unconscious at about 2:15 p.m. Monday and rushed to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River where she later died.

The woman was described as a white woman in her early 50s. She was 5 feet, 2 inches tall with dark hair and light blue eyes.

She was found wearing a blue winter coat. Underneath the coat, she was wearing a purple shirt with snowflakes. She was also wearing light blue pajama pants and ugg boots.

"It's strange that they would find a 50-year-old woman just lying in the golf course. I've never heard of anything like that," said Matthew Tavares who lives near the country club.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office said it doesn't believe foul play was involved.

A representative for the district attorney's office said if no family members come forward, they may have to identify the woman through dental records.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Dartmouth Police Department at 508-910-1700.
