Providence to hold Christmas tree lighting

Posted: Updated:
PROVIDENCE -

The city of Providence is holding its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

Mayor Angel Taveras (tuh-VEHR'-us) will light the tree during a ceremony that begins Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Bank of America Skating Center at Kennedy Plaza, across the street from City Hall.

The festivities will include performances by singing groups and a figure skating demonstration.

Providence's own "Dancing Cop" Tony LePore will be showing off his traffic-directing moves outside the skating rink.
