The CVS Caremark Charity Classic and key partners teamed up with the New England Patriots on Tuesday to build bicycles for children from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Providence and Boston.
New England players Rob Gronkowski and Steve Gregory joined CVS Caremark employees to assemble more than 30 bicycles at an event at Gillette Stadium. The children were presented the new bicycles along with a helmet and a lock by the players and volunteers.
"Giving back to our local communities is really at the heart of the Charity Classic and that's what (Tuesday's) event with our colleagues, our partners and the Patriots was all about," said Eileen Howard Boone, tournament chairwoman, CVS Caremark Charity Classic. "Everyone remembers their first bike and we're thrilled to help create such special memories for these very deserving kids."
"We are thrilled and honored to be part of this event which brings such joy to so many deserving children. Giving back to our fans is important to us, especially right here in our backyard," said Andre Tippett, NFL Hall of Famer and executive director of the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation.
