Rhode Island will receive approximately $230,000 as part of a large settlement with Google, over its tracking of consumers.
In all, 36 states will share $17 million.
The settlement acknowledges certain users may not have been aware of third-party 'cookies' registered on their computers.
The settlement also states Google may have placed the 'cookies' without the user's consent.
In addition to the payout, the agreement outlines several policies that Google must now follow.
