Massachusetts State Police said Monday that one of the state's most-wanted sex offenders was captured in Taunton.
Victor Quinones is classified as a high risk Level 3 sex offender, but police said he failed to register. The state police said he has a long history of violent assaults in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Investigators said Quinones attacked a woman and a child with a knife in 1998.
In another case, he was convicted in 2004 of assault with intent to rape in Rhode Island.
Quinones was the second fugitive sex offender captured Monday. State police said Placido Valdez Jr. was arrested in Beverly, Mass.
