Suspect held in Woonsocket shooting

WOONSOCKET, R.I. -

A Woonsocket man has been arrested in connection with a domestic incident in which a Woonsocket police officer fired his gun.

Angelo Luiz Perez was arrested in Bellingham over the weekend. Perez, 48, was being held as a fugitive from justice in Massachusetts. He faces charges of felony assault and disorderly conduct in Rhode Island.

Woonsocket police Detective Jamie Paone said no one was injured in the shooting at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday.

The shooting happened in the area of Clinton and Pond streets. She said police officers were actively investigating a domestic-related incident.

She did not provide additional details.
