Lincoln stabbings connected to Providence shooting

LINCOLN, R.I. -

Police say they believe that a weekend stabbing in Lincoln is connected to a shooting in Providence.

Two men were stabbed at 15 Woodland Court early Sunday morning at a house party.

Investigators believe the attack is linked to a shooting in Providence the night before. That shooting happened Saturday night on Elmwood Avenue. In that incident, police say a man was shot in the back. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in serious condition.

Officers responded to a 911 call at 15 Woodland Street early Sunday morning and found a 20-year-old injured man in the backyard of a nearby house and were told that a 21-year-old man had been taken by friends to Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket.

Police say the 20-year-old victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and was believed to be in serious but stable condition after suffering multiple stab wounds.

Jillian Rios, a resident of the housing unit told NBC 10 she was concerned for her safety.  "We just moved here from Pawtucket.  I've lived in Pawtucket my whole life and I've never been this close to something. For this to happen right across the street where my son plays and goes to school it was kind of scary."

The school located right next door to the housing complex is Saylesville Elementary.

No arrests have been made and police still investigating a possible motive for the violence.
