PROVIDENCE -

One man was killed and another man was injured in a Providence shooting, police said Tuesday.

Police received a report of shots fired in the 700 block of Public Street at about 11:45 p.m. on Monday.

Investigators found evidence at the crime scene, but did not find any victims.

Police said a vehicle left the scene with both victims and was spotted on Prairie Avenue. Police escorted the car with the victims inside to Rhode Island Hospital.

Police said 28-year-old Luis Aquino, of Providence, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Jonathan Garcia, 22, was wounded.

"Feel bad. It's a shame a young guy died like that," said Geovanny Johnson of Providence.

Investigators are trying to learn what led up to the shooting. Police said they believe more people were involved.

The shooting happened right outside Rachele Dobson's home.

"I want my kids to be raised so they don't have to be afraid. But sometimes you hear things on the news about people getting shot and killed. It's sad," she said.

No arrests have been made in the case.

This is the 13th homicide in Providence this year.
