The Massachusetts education commissioner said Wednesday that the state will take control of an elementary school in New Bedford.
Commissioner Mitchell Chester said the John Avery Parker School is no better off than what it was three years ago when a turnaround effort began, calling it "stuck."
The state instead of the school district will responsible for developing plans for improvement, with changes put in place by the next school year.
The state also took control Wednesday of two schools in Boston and one in Holyoke.
