A New Bedford man accused of killing a retired school teacher was ordered held without bail Wednesday.
Joshua Silva, 36, was arraigned in New Bedford District Court on charges of murder and armed robbery in the death of Joyce Howland.
Howland, 69, was found dead in her Fairhaven home on Oct. 15. Prosecutors said her throat was slit and that her back was broken.
The case was continued until Dec. 2.
