A 21-year-old New Bedford man is accused of invading a woman's home in Dartmouth on Tuesday morning.

Javon Carter was charged with home invasion, intimidation of a witness and kidnapping.

Dartmouth police said Carter walked into the woman's home on Milton Street through an unlocked back door.

Investigators said Carter forced the 60-year-old woman to stay in her bedroom while he went through her things. They said he pushed the woman to the floor when he left.

The woman was not hurt.

Officers caught Carter after a brief foot chase near the house.
