A report found that the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station has been closed more times in 2013 than any of the other dozens of nuclear reactors in the United States.
According to the findings, published in the Cape Cod Times, Pilgrim operators shut down six times since January. The plant spent 79 days in shutdown during those times, although plant owners say well over half of those days were for planned refueling.
Entergy, which owns and operates Pilgrim, said it has spent $500 million to upgrade the nuclear plant, since purchasing it in 1999.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission re-licensed Pilgrim to operate another 20 years a little over one year ago.
