A high school student was shot in the leg in Providence on Monday afternoon, police said.
Police said the student was shot near the intersection of Broad Street and Pennsylvania Avenue at about 4:30 p.m.
According to police, the student was walking home from the Juanita Sanchez education complex. Police said someone drove by and someone from inside the car shot the student.
The school is located two blocks away from where the shooting took place.
Police said the student was driven to Hasbro Children's Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
No arrests have been made.
As parents arrived at the school to pick up their children Tuesday, there was some concern.
"The violence these days, it's, like, terrible and I don't know what's going on with the police. There should be more police enforcement," one parent said.
Officials said the school is providing counseling for students who ask for it.
