A Pawtucket man was taken into custody Saturday after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend and then took off with their two young children.
Pawtucket police told NBC 10 that they were dispatched to a home on Mineral Spring Avenue at about 8 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived at the scene a woman said her boyfriend, 32-year-old Barrolle Shar, attacked and strangled her before taking off with their children.
Pawtucket detectives coordinated with Rhode Island State Police to issue an Amber Alert, however before the alert could be issued, police were alerted to a location in Providence where the suspect's vehicle had been located.
According to police, the children, a 2-year-old boy and a 3-year-old were found unharmed by Rhode Island State Police in a Providence Apartment.
Officers say Shar did run when they showed up, but did not struggle.
Shar is facing several charges including assault with intent to murder and domestic strangulation, and is currently being held at the Pawtucket Police Department where he will be arraigned in front of a bail commissioner either Saturday or Sunday.
