The Red Cross is providing assistance to four families who were forced out of their homes by a fire early Thursday morning.
A vacant tenement at 266 Quequechan St. caught fire at about 4 a.m. Demolition crews tore down the building.
The Red Cross said 18 people, including 12 children, in two neighboring triple-deckers that were damaged are being helped with temporary housing and money for food.
No one was hurt.
Police said five bullet casings found down the street are not connected to the fire.
