Two Attleboro schools were placed on lockdown Tuesday based on a report of a suspicious man, but no threat was made and the man was never found.
The police department said four students at Wamsutta Middle School saw a man come out of the woods while they were at recess.
Police said the students told them the man went back into the woods after seeing them and that a young girl reported it looked like he might have a gun in his pocket.
The district put Wamsutta and Hyman Fine Elementary School on lockdown as they searched for the man.
Police also used a state police helicopter and a K-9 unit, but they never found any sign of the man. Students were dismissed.
Officers will maintain a presence at the schools for a couple of days.
