Police say David Andino, 49, tried to sell stolen power tools to the same victim from which the tools were stolen.
The theft happened Monday morning in the parking lot of a Lowe's in Darmouth.
That same morning, police say the suspect walked into a social club in New Bedford and tried to sell some power tools.
"A man sitting at the bar knew that his friend had his vehicle broken into earlier in the morning," said New Bedford Police in a news release. "The witness made arrangements to look at the tools with the suspect and notified his friend."
Police say the victim identified the tools and called authorities.
Officers recovered the power tools and returned the stolen items to the victim, a Fairhaven resident.
Andino, a New Bedford resident, was arrested.
He's charged with receiving stolen property exceeding $250.
