East Providence police are offering a $5,000 reward to anyone with information about an apparent arson that happened four years ago Friday.
Police called it a hate crime because of racial slurs and swastikas spray-painted on the side of the Ferris Avenue house.
Detectives said they do believe the family was targeted specifically because they are a mixed-race family.
Children ages 7 to 15 were asleep in their home when someone took a gasoline can to the back of the house and lit it on fire. Everyone was able to escape safely.
Police said they believe someone knows who is responsible, and they're encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call East Providence Police Detective Michael Petow at 401-435-7648 or the Division of the State Fire Marshal's Arson Watch Hot Line at 401-462-4242.
