Man accused in Johnston killings to remain held

Posted: Updated:

A man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and her adult daughter and kidnapping a boy made a brief appearance in court Tuesday.

Daniel Rodriguez waived his right to a bail hearing in Kent County District Court and agreed to be held without bail.

Rodriguez is accused of killing 40-year-old Evelyn Burgos and 25-year-old Vanessa Perez at their home in Johnston in August.

He's also accused of kidnapping Burgos's 2-year-old son, Isaiah Perez.

Isaiah's abduction triggered a nationwide Amber Alert. The boy was found wandering a Providence street, but he was unharmed.

Rodriguez, 28, has a long history with the law and has been charged with murder, kidnapping and burglary in this case.
