$25,000 reward offered in murder investigation

Posted: Updated:

Warwick police said Thursday that a $25,000 reward is being offered for information in an unsolved killing.

Police said John "Jack" Fay was killed in a violent attack early May 17 while taking his daily jog through Warwick City Park. Fay's body was found the next day in a trash barrel covered by brush.

Fay, 66, was a retired postal worker.

Police said the attacker or attackers may have had injuries to their face, hands and arms and that they may have had a poison ivy outbreak about a week after Fay's killing.

Police said the reward will be offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case. Money for the reward came from anonymous contributions.

Police said anyone with information should call Sgt. Mark Canning at 401-468-4236 or a tip line at 401-732-8477 or 401-468-4233.
