A family claims a man stole a mobile phone from a 12-year-old boy in Providence on Saturday afternoon.
Brendenlee Rosario told NBC 10 that he typically joins his father, Evaristo Rosario, at Rosario's Insurance Avenue on Pocasset Avenue.
He said when his father was in the back of the building, a person described as a white man with dark hair and in his 20s or 30s, walked into the store and asked for insurance. Brendenlee got up out of the chair he was sitting on, put his iPhone down on the chair, and went to get his father. When they returned less than two minutes later, the man was gone and so was the boy's phone.
"He saw a kid and took advantage of the situation," Evaristo Rosario said.
The Rosarios worry about Brendenlee without his phone. His father said he feels more comfortable when he knows he can contact his son.
"I hope police end up catching the guy and the guy pays for the consequences," Evaristo Rosario said.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Providence Police Department.
