A longtime Woonsocket police captain is a finalist for the position of police chief in nearby Uxbridge, Mass.
The Woonsocket Call reported that Detective Capt. Edward Lee is one of four candidates.
Lee is a 25-year veteran of the Woonsocket police force.
Uxbridge has been without a permanent police chief since former Chief Scott Freitas retired in August. Lt. Peter Emerick has been serving as interim chief.
The newspaper reported that Emerick is also one of the finalists, along with Smithfield Police Capt. Robert Eaton, and Auburn, Mass., Detective Lt. Jeffrey Lourie.
Uxbridge Town Manager Sean Hendricks is quoted as saying he hopes to select an applicant before the end of September.
