Police ask for public's help in sexual assault case

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

East Providence police are asking for the public's help to locate a man wanted for first-degree sexual assault.

Police described 49-year-old Joseph Escobar as a white man, 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. His last known address was 45 Miles Ave. in East Providence.

Police said Escobar has been seen in Johnston, Providence, and Brockton, Mass. Police said he may also be receiving help to conceal his whereabouts.

Police said the assault happened in East Providence on April 16.

Anyone with any information is asked to call East Providence police.
