Three-time New England Patriots Super Bowl champion Joe Andruzzi and his wife, Jen, hit the halls Monday at Hasbro Children's Hospital on behalf of the Joe Andruzzi Foundation.
And based on all the smiles, it appears everyone had a blast, including Andruzzi.
"It was very cool, seeing them in person and being able to put them on," said Sedryk Sousa of Fall River, talking about Andruzzi's Super Bowl rings.
Pretty cool, I never had a celebrity come see me" said Kiana King of Cranston.
"The foundation is all about being upbeat and having fun, so to come here and put some smiles on the kids' faces. I showed them a couple rings and had a couple good laughs, bring them a couple of gifts, and sign some autographs and something they can talk about and move them forward," Andruzzi said.
The trip touches home for Andruzzi. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2007, ending his NFL career. He is now cancer-free and happy to share his story at Hasbro Children's Hospital.
"Well, he showed me a picture on his phone when he lost his hair and he showed me his port where his scar is," said Kiana.
"It was a very good opportunity to meet him, to know what he went through and to see what he's going through and kind of relate to him," said Sedryk.
"It somewhat clicks with them that I was sick too, and now, look how good I look. I got my hair back, and it inspires them," Andruzzi said.
Andruzzi said the children inspire him to continue to do more with his foundation to help kids across New England battle cancer.
