State says cleanup of TLA site complete

Posted: Updated:

The cleanup and closure of a construction debris recycling facility in East Providence is complete, the state Department of Environmental Management said Friday.

The DEM said about 12,500 tons of material was removed by truck and train from the former Trans-Load America/Pond View site at One Dexter Road.

The facility went into receivership in March 2012 and ceased operations about a year ago.

The DEM said it is awaiting the results of final surface and groundwater testing. When those are received, the DEM said it will terminate the operating license issued to TLA-Providence LLC, which ran the facility.

The state said the cleanup and closure was done by the owner of One Dexter Road. The DEM said the property owner is allowed to use the site any way it wants under state and local law.
