Girlfriend wants answers about boyfriend's death

PROVIDENCE -

It's more than five months since the body of 28-year-old Rasheen Garrett was found at Fort Taber in New Bedford in April.

"What happened? How did he get there? Why did they bring him there? Why did them leave him there?" said Mercedes Holley.

Holley is Garrett's girlfriend and the mother of his two daughters. She said New Bedford police still haven't told her how he died.

"We want to know what really happened. All we know is that he went out there to do music with them and his body shows up at a beach and he's dead?" she said.

According to a woman questioned by police, Garrett was last seen with two friends, one goes by the name of Rambo, the other T-Bizzle.

Holley said the couple's 6-year-old daughter was brought home from school with Garrett in T-Bizzle's car on the day he died. Holley said Garrett told her he was going out to work on some music, and she never saw him again.

"My children are obsessed with their father. They miss him," she said.

Holley said she saw a picture of Garrett's body and it was badly beaten. She wonders if a fight took place where Garrett was beaten and then left at Fort Taber. She also said drugs may have been involved.

"He was a good guy. Always with his kids, and always bringing his kids to school," Holley said.

Police said the case remains under investigation. Calls placed to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office were not returned.
