Tech This Out: UWater K8 MP3 player

Posted: Updated:

Have you ever ruined your iPod by getting it wet? Or wanted to listen to music when you go swimming? I have.

But now, all of your problems are solved. Fitness Technology's UWater K8 waterproof MP3 player is 100% waterproof. It also comes with waterproof headphones.

I wanted to make sure this wasn't just "water resistant" so I put the UWater to the test.

I had no idea how to surf. Although listening to "Surfing Safari" and "Surfing USA" by the Beach Boys on the UWater did give me some motivation to keep at it. Maybe the company should have downloaded "Wipeout" for me.

I was a little nervous that the MP3 player wouldn't stay clipped onto my wet suit and I'd lose it, but it stayed on.

The ear buds were great even when I crashed and burned they stayed in most of the time. This was a big bonus because I can never find ear buds that stay in my ears.

I took a break from surfing laid on the sand, threw the UWater in the waves and listened to some music. I was impressed by the sound quality.

The UWater K8 is totally waterproof up to 10 feet and it comes with 8 Gigs of storage. It comes with a set of waterproof headphones or you can buy another set of waterproof headphones with a longer red flat cord. The UWater costs about $130.

This is a great product for triathlon athletes, scuba divers or swimmers, kayakers, snorkelers, swimmers people who run in the rain and anyone else who likes to listen to music and wants a waterproof device.

Here's a link to their website. Surf's up dude!
