Woonsocket-based CVS Pharmacy has decided to drop a requirement that customers purchasing products containing acetone show identification before leaving the store.
The policy was enacted over concerns that acetone is used is the manufacturing of methamphetamine.
In a statement to NBC 10, a company spokesman said the identification requirement was dropped to ensure customer convenience.
The change takes effect immediately, and should be in stores this week.
The requirement is still being enforced in Hawaii.
