WARWICK, R.I. -

A man accused of killing his girlfriend and her adult daughter in Johnston and then kidnapping a 2-year-old boy was ordered held without bail Tuesday.

Daniel Rodriguez, 28, was arraigned in Kent County District Court in Warwick on two counts of murder, burglary, kidnapping and gun charges.  A bail hearing was scheduled for Aug. 27.

Rodriguez is charged with fatally shooting 40-year-old Evelyn Burgos and 25-year-old Vanessa Perez and abducting Burgos's son, Isaiah Perez.

The killings happened Sunday morning in Burgos's house at 3 Oaktree Drive.

Police said Burgos's two other children were in the home when Rodriguez broke in and fired five shots, killing the women. Burgos's 6-year-old son, A.J., called 911 while hiding from the shooter.

Burgos's brother, Alonzo Pichardo, said he's still having trouble comprehending what happened.

"You see someone one day, and, you know, they're gone. My sister was a hard-working woman, beautiful woman, funny, sweet. My niece, Vanessa, was an angel," Pichardo told NBC 10 News.

Isaiah's abduction triggered a nationwide Amber Alert. The boy was found wandering a Providence street, but unharmed.

Police have not offered a motive in the killings, but relatives have said there was an ongoing domestic dispute.

Evelyn Burgos sought a restraining order against Rodriguez.  She was supposed to appear in court on Thursday.

"I fear for my life. I'm very scared of him. He calls me making threats," she wrote in an domestic assault affidavit.

Pichardo said he knew his sister was afraid of Rodriquez, but he said he never could have predicted her murder.

"He's a coward," Pichardo said of Rodriguez, "4 a.m., two little women who probably didn't even weigh 100 pounds, he comes after them. That's a coward, so he's going to get his," Pichardo said.
