The author of the books that inspired the new movie "The Conjuring" is asking for help after a local gravestone was damaged in the village of Harrisville.
"There's no excuse for this behavior. To desecrate a gravesite because of a movie is absolutely unacceptable," Andrea Perron said in a video posted to youtube.com.
Perron's book series, "House of Darkness House of Light," is based on the events her family experienced at a farmhouse in Harrisville.
NBC 10 found the damaged gravestone repaired on Friday night.
Firefighters stationed near the grave site told us they put it back together.
Local residents are upset by the vandalism.
"I mean it's upsetting that anyone would vandalize a grave, because I think it's very disrespectful," Sara Indish, Burrilliville. "I saw it completely on the ground, broken in two and now their's a piece completely missing. And I guess the firemen put it back together."
The gravestone marks the burial plot of Bathsheba Sherman. A troubled resident of the farmhouse in the 1800's.
