A rookie Johnston police officer who was charged with breaking and entering, simple assault and battery, and disorderly conduct was fired on Friday.

Johnston police said an internal hearing determined Marisa Ciccone violated department regulations, policies and procedures.

Warwick police say Ciccone barged into a man's home Monday and demanded money over an alleged drug transaction. Police said Ciccone struck a 17-year-old girl in the face.

Ciccone, 24, is not covered under the Law Enforcement Officers' Bill of Rights because she was on the force less than a year and is still on probation.
