CNBC has released a list of the most expensive states in which to live in the United States.
Connecticut came in at No. 3 on the list. The average home price there is about $500,000.
Hawaii took the top spot. The average home price in Hawaii is about $740,000, and energy bills there are some of the highest in the country.
Alaska ranked No. 2 on the list. Energy prices there are also on the high end, according to researchers.
New York and New Jersey came in at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively. Manhattan home prices top $1 million, the highest in the country.
Rhode Island ranked No. 7, and Massachusetts ranked No. 8.
