A Johnston police officer is accused of breaking into a house in Warwick.

Johnston Police Chief Richard Tamburini said Marisa Ciccone, 24, a Johnston police officer, was arrested by Warwick police.

Warwick police told NBC 10 News that a woman by the name of Marisa Ciccone was arrested at 5 p.m. Monday at a home on Byron Boulevard. She was arrested with James Fortin 44, of Warren.

Ciccone was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and breaking and entering. Fortin was charged with breaking and entering.

Both appeared in front of a bail commissioner and were released on personal recognizance with a court date set for September.

Tamburini, declined to go on camera but told NBC 10 that Ciccone was at the police department for a drug test.

She's now suspended without pay.

Ciccone has been with the department since last December.
