Lincoln Little League was red hot in its Eastern Region opener Friday in Bristol, Conn.
Lincoln scored 11 runs off 13 hits against Saco, Maine. Seven of the runs came in the first three innings.
Lincoln won the game 11-2.
"First win was very good. We got all the jitters out of the way. We were very nervous. Managers, coaches, fans, all the players were extremely nervous right before the game. Even the first couple of innings the nerves wouldn't go away, but as we kept chipping away at the scoreboard we eased up. It feels very good to get out of the first game with a win and hopefully all the nerves are gone and we get to baseball," said Lincoln manager Matt Netto.
The team's next opponent in pool play is Newton, Mass., at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The winner of the Eastern Region championship will represent New England at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.
