PAWTUCKET, R.I. -

Pawtucket police on Wednesday released the name of a man found dead in a wooded area off Blackstone Avenue.

Police said 26-year-old Robert L. Littlejohn of Pawtucket and Central Falls had been shot several times.

Investigators said a passer-by walking a dog found the body at about 3:30 p.m. Monday and called police.

Police said they do not believe the location where Littlejohn was found was where he was killed.

The state medical examiner determined Littlejohn died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.

Edmond Bober has lived off Blackstone for nearly 80 years. He said he was shocked by a gruesome discovery so close to home.

"I'm certainly surprised, though. All the years I've been living here never had anything like that," Bober said.

Pawtucket police asked anyone who might have heard gun shots in the past three or four days to call them at 401-727-9100.
