Officials are warning of another day of high heat in Rhode Island and say things will get worse as the week wears on.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for much of the state on Wednesday. It says the heat index will make it feel close to 100 due to high temperatures and the dew point.
Things are expected to get worse Thursday, when the weather service says the heat index in the northern part of the state could top 105. It's issued an excessive heat watch for Thursday in those areas.
The weather service advises people to drink plenty of water and if working outside to take frequent rest breaks and try to spend some time in air conditioning.
NBC 10 Meteorologist Gary Ley says some relief is in sight. A cold front will pass this weekend breaking the extreme heat.
