New addition at Carnegie Abbey in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. -

A posh community in Portsmouth is adding top-notch amenities. A ribbon-cutting ceremony officially unveiled the new Newport Beach Club, a luxury spa in the shadow of the Mt. Hope bridge available for residents of Carnegie Abbey.

The club, which comes complete with three pools, a bi-level clubhouse with a restaurant and function area, and a private beach is just the most recent of the high class facilities that decorate the property.

"We bought with a vision that thirty years from now, what is this place going to look like?," says Katie Luckett, a resident of the community. "To be able to have our kids come and be with us is really the reason we bought into this."

Brian O'Neill, the developer of the multi-million dollar properties is most proud of the work that local laborers did to make this dream come true.

"The beauty of this development," O'Neill explains, "Is that almost one hundred percent of it was built by employees that live here on Aquidneck Island."

Saturday's festivities included food, bar service, and live music.
