Flash floods swept through some areas of Rhode Island amid heavy downpours Thursday, and the National Weather Service is telling people to be on alert for more flooding later in the day.
A storm that hit Thursday morning caused some localized flooding on streets in Cranston and Providence. There were reports of 1.5 inches of rain an hour falling in some areas.
The weather service said more rain could come in the afternoon, with 1 to 2 inches of rain falling in an hour or less. It issued a flash flood watch for the entire state until 6 p.m.
