Boston business boom with Bruins in Stanley Cup final

BOSTON -

Before Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final on Monday, hockey fans filled the streets near the TD Garden.

They poured in by car, cab, train and plane.

"I've always been a Boston fan, so two years ago I came down for games three and four, and so I'm here again," said Robert Illson who's from Ontario.

"Each game just seems like they go back and forth. Throughout the whole game, it's just up and down. It's ridiculous," said Chicago Blackhawks fan Patrick Farrell.

But whether they wore red and white, or black and gold, their money is green. And that's all that matters to the retail shops, bars and restaurants.

Local business managers were celebrating a small victory Monday with so many extra people in town for postseason play.

They say it's a big win after a shortened hockey season filled with cash losses.

"You know, people have short memories. We love this, don't get us wrong. But remember, we lost 18 home games this year because of the strike," said Matt Coleman, manager of Sullivan's Tap. "It really did a number on us and this is just a little icing on the cake."
