Flood warning canceled for Blackstone

The National Weather Service canceled the flood warning early Saturday for the Blackstone River at Woonsocket.

The weather service said at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, the river was at 8.9 feet. Flood stage is 9 feet.

The river crested at 8.9 feet and will fall to 6.9 feet by Sunday morning.

The weather service said the flood warning continues for the Pawtuxet River in Cranston until Monday evening or until the warning is canceled.

The river was at 11.4 feet at 3:45 a.m. Saturday.  Flood stage is 9 feet.

Moderate flooding has occurred, and the river will continue to rise to near 11.5 feet Saturday morning.  The Pawtuxet will fall below flood stage early Monday afternoon, the weather service said.

At 11.5 feet, homes and businesses in low lying sections of Cranston, Warwick and West Warwick are affected.

The weather service said minor flooding was occurring Saturday along the Pawcatuck River in Westerly. The river will remain elevated in minor flood stage through much of the weekend.

Flooding is expected to affect the lowest lying homes along Hiscox Road in Westerly and some homes in French Village in Hopkinton. 

The flood warning for the Pawcatuck is in effect until 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
