SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. -

A Westerly man pleaded not guilty Thursday to a manslaughter charge in the death of another man.

Mandell Tripp, 41, was charged in the Oct. 29 stabbing death of Kevin Brown. Tripp was arraigned in Washington County Superior Court and released on $50,000 bail.

A judge ordered Tripp to have no contact with the victim's family.

Police found Brown's body in a car in Westerly. Officers said he tried driving himself to the hospital after getting into a fight with Tripp.

Tripp is scheduled to be in court for a hearing on July 23.
