Pawtucket police and city leaders teamed up for Saturday's gun buyback program in an effort to get guns off the city's streets.
The buyback took place at the Pawtucket Police Department's substation on Armistice Boulevard.
Gift cards were given in exchange for functioning weapons, up to 200 dollars for semi-automatic or assault style weapons.
Organizers say the buyback provides a way to make the community safer by properly disposing of the unwanted firearms.
