A donation box was stolen Friday from a low-cost animal hospital in Warwick.
Workers at Care For Animals on Post Road had locked the front door to start cleaning up, but heard someone trying to get in the door.
They opened the door thinking someone needed them, but no one was there.
Later, they found the donation jar missing.
"I was completely shocked," said Amy Mason of Care For Animals.
The box had about $200 in it.
The workers said the money helps with vaccines for kittens, de-worming, surgeries and boarding of animals.
Dr. Annette Rauch of Care For Animals said it wasn't the first time the animal hospital has been robbed.
"We installed a security system since our safe was stolen. But the robbery that occurred last Friday happened from the front desk near the front door," Rauch said.
"It's upsetting two fold. It's kind of unfortunate from a human perspective that they are that desperate, and for the animals it's upsetting too because the staff and volunteers who work here are extremely dedicated and every dollar they raise, we work really hard and they go a long way," Rauch said.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
