NARRAGANSETT, R.I. -

A Superior Court affidavit obtained Thursday by NBC 10 News details a gruesome killing in Narragansett.

Robert Taylor is accused of killing his mother, dismembering her, and dumping the remains in a trash container.

Allison Taylor, 65, lived in an apartment at 130 Caswell St. It's where police questioned Robert Taylor on Tuesday about a robbery at a nearby church.

When police asked Taylor where his mother was, the affidavit states that "he suddenly produced a pocket knife and began slashing his wrist in an apparent suicide attempt."

It explained the bandages seen on Taylor's wrists at his arraignment Wednesday.

Police at the scene also questioned a visiting nurse assigned to Allison Taylor.

According to the affidavit, the nurse said when she arrived at the apartment Tuesday morning that " ... the defendant was exiting the apartment with two grocery bags. The defendant discarded them in the Dumpster."

According to the affidavit, Robert Taylor told the nurse that his mother was sleeping and sent the nurse to the supermarket to pick up bleach, paper towels and a shower curtain liner. When she came back with the items, Taylor changed his story and said his mother was not home but wouldn't say where she was.

Officers found this odd so they checked the apartment and found evidence, including a possible blood trail leading down the stairs and to the trash container. Inside, they found Allison Taylor's body and charged her son with murder.

The victim's daughter has placed a memorial next to the site where the remains were found. She declined to be interviewed by NBC 10.

Robert Taylor has a long rap sheet, including several felonies and misdemeanors. He being held without bail and is due back in court on May 15.
