Residents were outraged when they learned that the body of one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects was taken to a North Attleborough funeral home.

"No, I don't want him here. Send him back to Russia," said Cathy Tetreault of North Attleborough.

"We shouldn't be doing anything for him. For what he did he shouldn't get any kind of consideration whatsoever," said Cheryl DiGeorge of North Attleborough.

The body of Tamerlan Tsarnaev was taken by the Boston medical examiner to the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home on Thursday night. Tsarnaev died in a shootout with police after an intense manhunt in Cambridge the week of the bombings.

"I don't understand why he was brought here, and I know it's upset a lot of people," Tetreault said.

Jay Elias, who works for the funeral home, said they were simply doing their job.

"We play a limited role. Neighbors thought we were housing a terrorist if you will, but the truth is we were just doing what we do every day hundreds of times a year," he said.

Elias told NBC 10 that Tsarnaev's body was at the funeral home at about 6:30 p.m. It was later moved to another funeral but declined to say which one.

He said the family requested Tsarnaev's body be brought to North Attleborough and also requested the body be moved later Thursday.

Elias said the family never intended to have a service in North Attleborough and that it was simply a stop along the way.

Residents said they don't want Tsarnaev in their town and they don't want him buried in the state.

"I'm trying to see the compassionate side of it, but I don't know. I don't know, maybe a shoebox would be better for him," DiGeorge said.
