It was one week ago Lois Miner was dealing with the aftermath of a fire that tore through the building that housed her business of 23 years, Mary D's Antiques in Westerly.
She'll soon be opening in a new location on High Street in downtown.
"Fifteen minutes before I went to clean out the store to see what I could save, we got this here across the street here," said Miner.
Things fell into place for Miner to get her new location. The current tenant, the owner of Repurposed Design and Consign, has two locations right across the street from each other.
He's now consolidating into one store.
"We have to stick together, it's a tough world. I've been in business 40 years, never gets easier, "said Repurposed owner Mark Bogue.
"It's nice, she'll bring her clientele into our area here," said Joe Nigrelli, Miner's new landlord and owner of Nigrelli's Jewelry in Westerly.
Miner says she's also gotten lots of help from other businesses both financially and with material, such as Sherwin Williams, Walmart, Benny's, Rent A Center, Home Depot and Printing Plus, as well as downtown businesses that will soon be her neighbors, like Miceli's Furniture, Woodmansee's and Homespun, a fellow antique dealer collecting donations for her.
"She brings people from all over the area, to lose her would be to lose our own businesses, " said Homespun owner Brian Birch.
Miner says any antique dealers that want space in her new store can contact her at (401) 596-9068.
She hopes to be open in her new location in May.
