The former director of the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence will lead a zoo in Florida.
The Naples Daily News reported Thursday that Jack Mulvena has been named president and chief executive of the Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens. He begins May 6.
Mulvena left the Roger Williams Park Zoo in January after 20 years. He was credited with raising $30 million for new exhibits and capital improvements, leading a $10 million expansion of habitats for elephants and giraffes, and spearheading construction of a new veterinary hospital and quarantine facility.
Mulvena was selected for the position in Naples from more than 100 applicants.
