Posted: Updated:

The family of Sunil Tripathi is in Providence looking for the missing 22-year-old. Providence Police are also involved in the search for the one-time Brown University student.

Tripathi was last seen near his Angell Street apartment Saturday morning. "He's completely gone off the grid since Saturday, and we're just very, very afraid," Tripathi's sister Sangeeta told NBC10 News. Sunil Tripathi left his belongings, including his phone and his wallet, in his apartment.

"We were just worried. He was going through a very sad, a very, very depressed time and we're just worried about his health and his own well-being," his sister said.

Tripathi had been studying philosophy at Brown before taking time off. Sangeeta Tripathi told NBC10, "He's a great, great, charming, sweet, very smart, quiet kid. He took time off about a year-and-a-half ago to get his life in order and has been working really hard to do so…to see him gone like this is just very scary."

Sunil Tripathi is 6 feet, 2 inches tall, weighing about 130 pounds. Anyone who may have seen him is asked to call Providence Police 401-272-3121.
